Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected a visit to Ukraine by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. This is likely due to his visit to the BRICS summit in Russia.

This was reported to AFP by sources in the Office of the President of Ukraine.

What is known about the cancellation of Guterres' visit to Ukraine

Apparently, Guterres intended to visit Kyiv on his way back from Kazan, Russia, where the BRICS summit ended yesterday.

"Zelenskyy rejects UN chief's visit to Ukraine because of visit to Russia: A source in the Office of the President of Ukraine", a media report said.

As a reminder, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres accepted the invitation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and attended the BRICS summit in Kazan.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reminded that Guterres had declined Ukraine's invitation to attend the Peace Summit, but went to Russia. The diplomatic agency emphasized that the UN Secretary-General's actions "harm the reputation of the United Nations".
