President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called joining the North Atlantic Alliance the cheapest guarantee of security. Otherwise, and without financial support, Ukraine will not be able to keep Russia at bay.

The Ukrainian leader said this in an interview with Bloomberg.

Ukraine's accession to NATO

"At some point everyone will realize that NATO is the cheapest guarantee of security. If Ukraine is not in NATO and we are faced with a person who is sick with the desire to occupy us, if he has an army of more than one and a half million, then you will not be able to hold the line if you do not have an army of about one million," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that in order to deter the Russian army, the entire Ukrainian economy must work or be jointly financed. At the same time, the reduction of the Ukrainian armed forces is exactly what the enemy demands and some world leaders suggest. In this case, Russia's ability to occupy all our territories will increase.

"That is why I say, what are security guarantees? If it is just a piece of paper, then we will not sign another Budapest Memorandum," the president added.

As a reminder, NATO has stated that it sees no signs of Russia's desire for peace in Ukraine, so the Alliance should strengthen its support for Ukraine.

And during a visit to Brussels, the Ukrainian delegation signed an agreement with Lithuanian parliamentarians on NATO.
