On January 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa. They discussed the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainians.

Meeting between Zelenskyy and Ramaphosa

Zelenskyy said that during the meeting they discussed the need for global efforts by all countries that respect the principles of the UN Charter to bring about a just peace. They also discussed the possibility of South Africa's participation in the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainians.

In addition, the Ukrainian leader took note of South Africa's presidency of the G20 this year and thanked South African representatives for their participation in thematic conferences based on the peace formula. He suggested that South Africa contribute to the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia and invited them to join the international coalition.

At the same time, the leaders instructed their foreign ministers to prepare reciprocal visits of the heads of state.

On January 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a series of meetings with world leaders. In particular, he spoke with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog, and the chairman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party Friedrich Merz.
