From October 2 to 4, Hasidic pilgrims will celebrate Rosh Hashanah in Uman. A consolidated unit of the State Emergency Service will control and ensure security during the celebrations. Also this year, dog handlers were engaged for the first time.

This was reported by a representative of the State Emergency Service to Novyny.LIVE correspondents who are at the scene.

A representative of the State Emergency Service (SES) stated that the celebrations are currently taking place without significant violations. According to her, during the Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage, a combined SES unit will be on duty, which includes rescuers, firefighters, bomb disposal experts, dog handlers, chemists, medics, and divers.

Volunteers are working alongside specialists to help communicate with the Hasidic pilgrims in foreign languages.

"Before the celebrations, divers inspected the bottom of the bodies of water where pilgrims perform the bathing ritual," the rescuer said.

In addition, rescuers are carrying out preventive measures, including reminding people about fire safety rules and the importance of going to shelters during air raid alarms. Also, for the first time, dog handlers have been involved in patrols this year.

"We have the experience of previous years, so for the first time, we have added canine units that inspect the areas surrounding buildings where large gatherings of people take place. These are detection dogs that, upon discovering a suspicious or unfamiliar object, signal to the canine handler, and we then contact the explosive ordnance disposal unit of the National Police,"  the SES representative emphasized.
