DPRK troops launch combat operations in Kursk region — ISW
South Korean and U.S. intelligence confirmed that DPRK troops have launched combat operations together with Russian troops in the Kursk region. Most of the 10,000 North Korean troops from eastern Russia have been redeployed to the west of the Kursk region.
This was reported by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on Thursday, November 14.
DPRK Troops in Kursk Region
The intelligence agencies of South Korea and the United States have separately confirmed that DPRK troops are taking part in hostilities in the Kursk region.
"South Korea's National Intelligence Service confirmed on November 13 that it "estimates that North Korean troops deployed in Russia" are already engaged in combat after completing their training and gradual deployment to the battlefield over the past two weeks," the report reads.
US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel said that most of the 10,000 North Korean troops deployed in eastern Russia have now moved to the western Kursk region, "where they have begun to engage in combat alongside Russian troops".
Earlier, ISW analysts wrote that North Korean troops had entered into hostilities in the Kursk region, citing reports from Ukrainian intelligence and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
As a reminder, Western media quoted US officials as saying that Russia is preparing a large-scale offensive in the Kursk region with North Korean troops.
Earlier, Novyny.LIVE wrote that the number of North Korean troops in the Kursk region of Russia is about 10 thousand people. At the same time, the experts' estimates are not a "significant overestimation".
