Ukraine to launch its first medical cannabis drug — when
On August 16, 2024, the law on the legalization of medical cannabis came into force in Ukraine. The first medical product based on it may enter the Ukrainian market in January this year.
This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the words of Olha Stefanishyna, a member of the Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Insurance.
Legalization of medical cannabis
According to her, the first registration of a medical cannabis-based drug is in progress in Ukraine. At the same time, she hopes that in January it will be possible to prescribe real medicines based on it.
Stefanishyna noted that Ukraine has the necessary regulatory framework for the circulation of such drugs, but they are still not on the market.
"Currently, everything is in place for patients to receive medical cannabis products, except for medical cannabis itself. Because, in addition to the regulatory system, someone needs to register these medicines in Ukraine," the MP clarified.
As a reminder, in September, the Cabinet of Ministers defined the rules for the transportation of medical cannabis across the country.
