A Ukrainian specialist was engaged in drawings and calculations for Russian nuclear power plants. The court found him guilty of aiding the aggressor state and sentenced him to punishment.

This was stated in the verdict published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.

Details of the case

The director of the Kharkov LDC "Yuzhatomenergoproekt" established financial and economic relations with Russian enterprises before the full-scale invasion. This involved, in particular, cooperation with the company "Alfapro" on the development of design and technical documentation to maintain the current technical condition, as well as the modernization and reconstruction of existing nuclear power plants on the territory of Russia. It is known that nine current and former employees of LDC "Yuzhatomenergoproekt", including the accused, participated in this activity.

No later than the end of April 2022, the man was assigned to prepare design and technical documentation, which included descriptions and drawings for the branches of JSC "Rosenergoatom" Concern — Balakovo, Kola and Kaliningrad nuclear power plants.

The accused graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic University with a degree in "boilers and reactors". While at home, he completed the work on a laptop and sent it to the director by e-mail, who, in turn, transferred the results to representatives of the Russian LDC "Alfapro" for further transfer to the branches of the nuclear power plant.

For his work, the man received 80 thousand hryvnias.

Thus, the employees of LDC "Yuzhatomenergoproekt" actually leveled Ukraine's sanctions policy against the Russian Federation by their actions, supporting the enemy's nuclear energy.

What did the court decide

During the court hearing, the man pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to ten years with confiscation of property and a ten-year ban on engaging in activities related to the development of design and technical documentation in the energy sector.

As a reminder, in the Mykolaiv region, a Russian man filmed military helicopters on his phone. The court found him guilty and sentenced him.

A woman was also tried in Lviv for supporting Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine on social networks.
