The President of Ukraine noted that the conversation with Keir Starmer was meaningful. He thanked the UK for its large-scale defence, political and economic support for Ukraine.
"Today, we discussed the continuation of our cooperation. Among the main topics are support for production of Ukrainian weapons, training of the Ukrainian military, sanctions against Russia's illegal tanker fleet and the JEF summit in Estonia," Zelenskyy noted.
He also added that Ukraine is interested in expanding cooperation with the JEF and full membership in the organization. During the conversation with Starmer, they also discussed an agreement on a 100-year partnership between the states. Work on its preparation is still ongoing.
"We appreciate the strong partnership that exists between our states and all assistance in bringing about a fair peace and long-lasting security," Zelenskyy added.
As a reminder, British Secretary of State for Defence John Healey said that his troops may arrive in Ukraine. The British soldiers will train Ukrainian ones here. Healey became the first government representative who had publicly supported such a step.
The United Kingdom has prepared another aid package for Ukraine, worth $286 million. This decision is aimed at strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine in confronting Russian aggression.
