First underground school nearly completed in Zaporizhzhia — video
The construction of the first underground school is being completed in Zaporizhzhia. It will become a safe shelter and a modern learning space for 1,000 children.
This was announced by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration, via Telegram on Thursday, November 28.

According to Fedorov, the school is being built in a densely populated area of the city. It will become a safe haven for residents and a modern learning space for children who will study in two shifts.
"This year, it will become the strongest shelter for residents of the district and the most reliable learning space for nearly 1,000 children in two shifts, compared to private houses, apartments, or shelters where students currently study online," the statement reads.
The head of the Regional Military Administration emphasized that the backfilling of soil around the monolithic structure has now been completed, and interior finishing work is ongoing.
Earlier, we wrote that an underground school is being built in one of the communities in Zaporizhzhia region. It will be an anti-radiation shelter where children will be able to study.
Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi said that more than four billion dollars are needed to equip all schools, universities and kindergartens in Ukraine with shelters.
