The spokeswoman for self-proclaimed President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, Natalia Eismont, said that the information about his apology to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not true. This refers to telephone conversations between the parties at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Eismont said this in a commentary to Russian media on Monday, January 6.

What Belarusians say about Lukashenko's apology to Zelensky

"There was no apology, because we have nothing to apologize for," she said.

Eismont explained that the phone conversation between Lukashenko and Zelenskyy in the early days of the war took place only because of the emotional reaction of the Belarusian dictator's son, Nikolai Lukashenko, who had the Ukrainian president's personal phone number in his phone.

During this conversation, Lukashenko allegedly accused Zelenskyy of provoking the "conflict" with Russia by his policies and called on the Ukrainian president to sit down with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, Novyny.LIVE collected Zelenskyy's main points, that he voiced in an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman. He talked about negotiations with Russia, corruption in Ukraine, and criticized the signatories to the Budapest Memorandum.

The President of Ukraine also spoke harshly about the actions of our partners before Russia's full-scale invasion. We are talking about when Ukraine asked for help.
