U.S. President Donald Trump often promised to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible during his election campaign. The newly elected president, who had previously stated that he could end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, commented on the progress of fulfilling this promise.

Donald Trump said this during the inauguration ceremony broadcast by Fox News.

Trump's response to reporters about the rapid end of the war

A journalist asked about Donald Trump's progress in resolving the conflict.

When asked about the current state of affairs, Trump replied: "It's only been half a day. I have another half day, we'll see".

To recap, Donald Trump made a statement about the need for talks with Vladimir Putin.

It should be noted that in 2023, Donald Trump stated that he would allow Putin to occupy part of Ukraine for peace.

And in November 2024, The Wall Street Journal published an outline of Donald Trump's peace plan, shared by an anonymous source. It became known that one of the president-elect's ideas for ending the war was to freeze the conflict.
