Trump picks Fox News host to head Pentagon

The new President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has chosen a candidate for the post of Secretary of Defense. It will be Fox News Channel host Pete Hegseth.

Trump announced this on the social network Truth Social.

New Secretary of Defense

"I am honored to announce that I have confirmed Pete Hegseth to serve as Secretary of Defense in my Cabinet," the statement said.

According to Trump, Hegseth has spent his entire life "as a warrior for the troops and for the country". He characterizes the host as tough, intelligent, and someone who truly believes in "America First".

The newly elected president emphasized that under the new defense secretary, "America's enemies must be on the alert", and the US army "will be great again".

To recap, Trump had a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The key topic was the war in Ukraine.

The Pentagon began informal contigency plan discussions in case Trump makes dangerous decisions.
