The largest EU countries will provide Ukraine with both financial and military assistance if the US reduces its support under the new administration of Donald Trump. EU ministers also advocate maintaining and strengthening sanctions against Russia until its troops are completely withdrawn from Ukraine.

This was stated by Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski, as Wpost writes.

The EU will not leave Ukraine

Sikorski also noted that together with the future EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, they were considering possible options for strengthening support for Ukraine in case of a decrease in US participation. He emphasized that the largest EU countries are ready to take on the burden of military and financial support for Ukraine if America reduces its commitments.

The Polish minister also emphasized that peace initiatives which contradict Ukraine's interests or have no support among its population can negatively affect the country's stability. He highlighted that any scenarios for ending the conflict and resolving Russian aggression should be developed in close cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities.

Sikorski also reported that EU ministers are in favor of maintaining and strengthening sanctions against Russia until its troops are fully withdrawn from Ukraine and the costs of rebuilding the country are covered, and all possible loopholes in the sanction regime should be closed.

Previously, we wrote that "the most important negotiations on the war in Ukraine" will be held in Warsaw. They will be held in the "Weimar Triangle+" format.

It should be recalled that Polish President Andrzej Duda has stated recently that his country is ready to transfer MiG aircraft to Ukraine, but there is one important condition.
