Russia may start attacking the gas transportation system after January 1, 2025. This is due to the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.

This was stated in the article of Bloomberg.

Will Russia dare to attack Ukrainian gas pipelines?

As Christian Egenhofer, a senior researcher at the CEPS analytical center in Brussels, told the publication, diplomatic circles of the European Union are considering the possibility that Russia will attack Ukraine's gas transportation system after January 1. This may happen due to Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision to stop the transit of Russian gas.

"When making a decision, the Ukrainian leader must take into account the need to protect the country's 38.6 thousand km of gas pipeline system. This network, which is one of the largest in the world, has been free of attacks for the past three years, as Russian gas has passed through it. If this stops, the system could become a target for missile strikes," the report says.

The attacks could create serious problems that will complicate heating homes throughout Ukraine in winter. According to the publication, work is currently underway to resolve this issue.

It should be recalled that from January 1, 2025, gas transportation tariffs for domestic consumers will increase in Ukraine, and by four times at once. However, this will not affect the tariff for the population.

Currently, 967 MW of distributed gas generation is connected throughout Ukraine. Of these, 835 MW were put into service this year.
