Ukrainian Parliament supported the law on multiple citizenship
The Ukrainian Parliament supported as a bill on the introduction of the multiple citizenship in Ukraine. 247 deputies voted "for".
This was announced by the MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Tuesday, December 17.
Multiple citizenship
According to Zheleznyak, before the second reading, parliamentarians should take into account offers and comments. In particular, the Ukrainian World Congress will provide its recommendations.
The MPs also instructed, by a separate voting, the Constitutional Court to give its opinion on this law.
In August of this year, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a draft law on multiple citizenship to the parliament for consideration. Such an institution will provide the opportunity to ensure conditions for the return of citizens who were forced to leave Ukraine due to the war. This is stated in the explanatory note.
Previously, we wrote that Ukrainians are massively abandoning their Ukrainian passports abroad. This threatens a real demographic catastrophe for the country.
