Ceasefire along the front line — Office of The President commented on the media article
The Office of the President of Ukraine responded to an article by Corriere Della Sera, which stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was allegedly ready to cease fire along the current front line in exchange for commitments from the West. They stated that Ukraine has a clearly defined framework for peace in the country.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
What was discussed in the article
The publication reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy allegedly tried to convince the Europeans at the political level that he was ready for a ceasefire on the condition that his partners fulfill certain obligations. He is not ready to give up the territories, but has another proposal.
"However, he would be ready for a ceasefire along the current line — without recognizing a new official border — in exchange for certain commitments from the West. First, security guarantees from the United States, similar to those given to Japan, South Korea and the Philippines. But from Rome, Paris and Berlin, Zelenskyy wants assurances of rapid accession to the European Union, which would give Ukraine a horizon for growth," the article said.
The article also noted that according to forecasts, the budget of the Russian defense apparatus in 2025 will grow to $130 billion and will earn about $190 billion from oil exports, which exceeds the amount before the full-scale invasion. This will not push Vladimir Putin to agree to peace talks; it will only give him more incentive to seize additional Ukrainian territory.
Response of the Office of the President of Ukraine
Meanwhile, the Office said that the government already has a clear plan for what peace should look like for Ukraine. It is to be presented in several countries.
"We have a Formula for Peace, which clearly states how Ukraine understands a just peace, and on this basis negotiations with partners are underway to strengthen Ukraine's position. The Victory Plan, which will be presented to Britain, France, Italy and Germany these days, is a tool to move the situation towards the implementation of the Peace Formula," the press service said.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed that one of the points of the Peace Formula is Ukraine's accession to NATO. The President also stated how the situation at the front could contribute to the end of the war in 2025.
