Covering up its lies — how Russia uses the OSCE
Russia sees the OSCE only as a platform to cover its aggressive actions and lies. Its real interest is to dismantle the international order based on the rules of law.
This is stated by the delegation of Ukraine during a regular meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation in Vienna, Ukrinform reports.
How Russia uses the OSCE
The statement said that Russia openly ignores not only all peace initiatives, but also responds to them with increasing escalation. As an example, they cited the increase in attacks on civilians and the number of executions of prisoners of war. In addition, Russia is cooperating with the DPRK and Iran, and their cooperation is reaching an unprecedented level.
At the same time, the Ukrainian mission emphasized that this became especially evident last week at a joint meeting of the Security Cooperation Forum and the OSCE Permanent Council, where "most participating States clearly expressed their concern about the escalation of Russia's involvement of North Korean troops in the aggressive war against Ukraine".
"And what was the reaction of the Russian side? The same messages that the Russian delegation used in this very hall on the eve of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, assuring us that "there is no reason to be concerned". As we know, both in 2022 and in 2024, these words were and are nothing more than outright lies," the statement emphasized.
They also highlighted that by spreading such narratives, Russia once again demonstrates that it views the OSCE only as a "platform to cover its own aggressive actions". In fact, its interest is to dismantle the rules-based international order at any cost.
In June, the OSCE officially recognized the Russian aggression as genocide against the Ukrainian people. It also recognized the need for decolonization of the aggressor country.
