Several members of the government and members of parliament, including the President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini, attended the celebrations.

"We caught a very militant person who hates me for my position towards Ukraine. He was armed, fortunately, he did not get into the area where we, the politicians, were, but went to the area where the crowd was. There he passed through the metal detector frame, it was discovered that he had a fully loaded gun," Fico said.

He also recalled the previous assassination attempt that occurred in May this year in the city of Handlova, and expressed the opinion that he was "very lucky" then.
