The war initiated by Russia is the most terrifying thing. However, if there is one small ray of light in this world, it is that Japan and Ukraine are rediscovering each other.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Matsuda Kuninori, shared this in a comment to Novyny.LIVE.

"The Russian invasion is the most horrifying thing for us. But if there is a small ray of light in this world, it is that Japan and Ukraine are rediscovering each other and realizing how important we are to one another," the ambassador said.

He emphasized that Ukraine is located on the western side of the Eurasian continent, while Japan is on the eastern side.

"There are many problematic countries between us. Therefore, we need to help each other. This is where we are gradually but steadily growing in our relations despite everything," Matsuda Kuninori concluded.

It is worth noting that the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Matsuda Kuninori, studies the Ukrainian language for 10–15 minutes every day. As a diplomat and ambassador, it is essential for him to understand the people, culture, and country he serves.

Last Monday, on September 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during his visit to the United States. The leaders discussed the war in Ukraine.
