Poland advises Germany to cancel payments for refugees — what to offer instead
Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski has offered Germany to redirect social assistance of Ukrainian refugees directly to Ukraine. He is dissatisfied with the financial incentive that allows them to stay in Germany.
The Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs said this during an interview with TVP Info.
Sikorski is dissatisfied with the support of Ukrainians in Germany
Sikorski noted that during his recent visits to Germany he had a meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during which he announced this proposal.
"I offered Chancellor Scholz that the social benefits that Ukrainian refugees receive in Germany, sometimes up to €1,200 per month, should be sent directly to Ukraine. It is bad that there is a financial incentive to stay in Germany instead of men fighting at the front line and women paying taxes," Sikorski noted.
We previously reported that the Irish government intends to introduce significant changes to the policy of supporting Ukrainian citizens. These changes are allegedly aimed at optimizing costs and encouraging refugees to improve their financial situation through active employment.
In Poland, the rules for providing social benefits for Ukrainian refugees have changed. This concerns accruals for children from 12 to 35 months of age.
