North Korea may send military to war against Ukraine — Media
North Korea is likely to send troops to war against Ukraine. In this way, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is trying to strengthen relations with Russia.
This was reported by Yonhap News with reference to the South Korean Defense Minister.
Will North Korea support Russia on the battlefield?
There is a possibility that North Korea will send members of its regular armed forces to Ukraine to take part in the war on the side of Russia. According to Yonhap News, this was stated by South Korea's defense minister on Tuesday, meaning the latest sign of deepening military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
North Korea's desire to strengthen ties with Russia is evidenced by the bilateral agreement, which includes a mutual defense clause, signed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin at their summit in June.
"Since Russia and North Korea have signed a mutual treaty similar to a military alliance, the possibility of such a deployment is highly likely," Defense Minister Kim told lawmakers during a parliamentary hearing.
Kim also added that the recent report of North Korean troop losses in Russian-occupied territory near Donetsk are probably true.
Last week, the Kyiv Post newspaper reported that more than 20 soldiers were killed in a missile strike on the Russian-occupied territory near Donetsk on Thursday, October 3. Among the victims of the shelling were soldiers from North Korea.
Novyny.LIVE also reported that North Korea may have sent over 13 thousand shipping containers of weapons to Russia in more than two years of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to preliminary estimates, this cargo could have contained six million 152-millimeter artillery shells.
