President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that today, on December 26, Ukraine honours those who defend our country with their courage, devotion and heroism. The highest state awards were handed over to them — the "Golden Star of the Hero of Ukraine" and the "Cross of Combat Merit".

The President emphasized that the main reason for the existence of Ukraine is its people — those who relentlessly fight for the freedom and independence of the state.
"Thank you for being in Ukraine. Glory to our warriors!" the Head of State thanked the defenders who fight for the bright future of our country.
It should be noted that this day became another reminder of the enormous contribution of everyone who works for victory and ensures peace for future generations.
It should be reminded, that earlier Zelenskyy visited the city of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. He handed over awards to Ukrainian defenders.
The Head of State also honoured Ukrainian defenders with state awards and presented battle flags to brigades. The celebrations were held on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Defenders.
