Ukraine has not overcome the problem of forced mobilization of citizens. A new program was launched for the organization of round-table discussions in different regions for addressing this issue.

This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets during the International Conference on Human Rights of the 2014-2024 decade, as Novyny.LIVE reported on Thursday, December 5.

What is the level of forced mobilization in Ukraine

Lubinets said that there is still a problem of forced mobilization in Ukraine. According to him, he continues to receive appeals from citizens complaining about violations of their rights during the mobilization process, including forced mobilization.

"When citizens of Ukraine are illegally and forcibly dragged into a passenger van and then taken to the TRC, their mobile phones are taken away, lawyers are not allowed, and information is not provided to families. Have there been such cases? Yes, there have been," the Commissioner for Human Rights noted.

He added that the Office of Commissioner for Human Rights tries to resolve each such incident: they respond to appeals and initiate internal proceedings and criminal cases.

Lubinets emphasized that with the new Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, communication with law enforcement agencies has improved, but problematic regions still remain. In addition, according to him, there is a response from state law enforcement agencies.

"What are we doing now? We started a separate new program a month ago: we organize round-table discussions under the regulation of my regional representatives. They invite all heads of law enforcement agencies, the TRC and the SSC, the public and representatives of the legal community. We analyze the cases that occurred during mobilization in a certain region, develop recommendations and set a condition for the future, so that similar cases do not occur," Lubinets emphasized.

It should be recalled, that military officer Kyrylo Sazonov claimed that the forced mobilization is a response to draft evaders. He also noted that recruiting is much more effective than mobilization through the TRC.

It should be noted that employees of the TRC and the CCS must act exclusively within the limits of their powers established by the legislation of Ukraine. However, some actions are categorically prohibited, and citizens must know their rights.
