Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets reported that in order to obtain a passport of a Ukrainian citizen, it is necessary to provide a document of military registration. This applies to Ukrainians both within our state and abroad.
Lubinets reported this on Thursday, December 5, during the Tenth Human Rights Conference "Reclaiming Human Rights — Preserving Democracy", which was attended by a correspondent of Novyny.LIVE, Halyna Ostapovets.
Refusal of issuing passports to Ukrainian men
"All citizens of Ukraine, regardless of where they are, must comply with the laws of our state. In order to obtain a passport of Ukrainian citizen, it is necessary to submit a whole package of documents, including a document of military registration," Lubinets noted.
He noted that he went through this procedure, like all other men who applied for Ukrainian citizenship.
"Separate approaches for those who are abroad and for those who are currently in Ukraine cannot exist at all. This will be a discriminatory approach," Lubinets explained.
The Commissioner for Human Rights noted that equality of duties and equality of rights for all must be maintained. He added that Ukrainians always mention their rights during discussions. However, few people talk about duties.
"We act within our powers with all due respect to everyone. We were asked for clarifications regarding the refusal to receive documents. We explained that it is necessary to get documents of military registration," Lubinets explained.
Previously, we reported that the United States of America is calling on Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 years. They believe that this will change the combat forces of the Ukrainian army.
It should be recalled that the Ministry of Education and Science expelled several tens of thousands of evasive students from higher education institutions.
