The attacks, which are called retaliation for France's support of Ukraine, took place on "Day X" announced by the hackers.

On their account, they also announced attacks on sites in Nantes, Bordeaux, Poitiers, Pau, Nimes, Nice, Angers, Le Havre, Montpellier, as well as the regions of Le Landes, French Polynesia, and New Caledonia. Most of these sites continued to operate.

The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, confirmed the attack on the city's website on TV. The City Hall of Marseille reported that their servers were under heavy load due to the attacks, which forced them to take protective measures that temporarily made the site inaccessible.

Representatives of Pau, Angers, and the Landes department said they had not noticed any serious problems.

According to experts, including Benoît Grunemwald of ESET, the hackers used the DDoS method.

This technique involves overloading servers with a large number of automatic requests, making them unavailable to users. DDoS attacks are usually not related to data theft, but are aimed at creating the illusion of digital insecurity.
