Czech Senate recognizes deportation of Crimean Tatars as genocide
The Czech Republic has recognized the mass deportation of Crimean Tatars as an act of genocide. The decision was made on Wednesday, December 18.
This was reported by the head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Maria Mezentseva, noting that the vote in the Senate was unanimous.

According to the Senate's official website, the meeting was attended by 76 senators, of whom 70 voted in favor, four abstained, and none spoke against.
Mustafa Dzhemilev's speech, in which the senators showed their solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people by giving him a standing ovation, was a symbolic moment.
In October, Estonia recognized the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as an act of genocide.
And in the summer, in July 2024, Poland voted for a similar decision.
