Administration of Biden prepares final aid package for Ukraine
The administration of the US President Joe Biden will announce the final military aid package for Ukraine in the coming days. It will include missiles for air defense systems and artillery ammunition.
Reuters reported this on Friday, December 20.
Biden's final aid package
The publication reports that the package worth $1.2 billion will include missiles for air defense systems and artillery ammunition. More details will be known later.
The weapons will be purchased from the US defense industry or partners, and will not be taken from the Pentagon's stockpile. This means that it may take months or years to deliver them to Ukraine.
In total, the White House has $5.6 billion left under the presidential authority to withdraw funds. The funds that the administration of Biden does not have time to spend will be transferred to the administration of Donald Trump.
Previously, we wrote that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need to fully implement the agreements on the supply of air defense systems. This was due to the massive missile strike that the Russian invaders carried out on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure last week.
Spokesman of US Department of State Matthew Miller also stated that the resources that the United States has already provided to Ukraine, as well as those that are planned to be transferred before the end of the term of the current administration of Joe Biden will allow Ukrainians to resist Russian aggression until the end of 2025.
