The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, visited the Sumy region. He spoke with commanders and soldiers of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.

It was reported by the Press Service of the Office of the President on Wednesday, August 6.

Zelensky in the Sumy region — who did he meet with?

The Head of State visited the command post of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, the unit whose soldiers were the first to enter the territory of the Kursk region last year.

"I spoke with the commanders. There were reports on the liberation of Andriivka and Kindrativka in the Sumy region, Russian attempts to counterattack, and our next steps toward liberating Ukrainian territory," it is said in the statement.

Zelensky reported that the regiment commander requested to scale the unit to the brigade level. The President promised to discuss this issue with the Commander-in-Chief.

"I thanked the warriors for their service and for the results the Kursk operation brought thanks to their efforts, and presented them with state awards. We will always be grateful for your service to Ukraine. And we will always honor the memory of all those who gave their lives for our country," he added.
