The Ground Forces is the largest element of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They keep the defense of our country and go through difficult battles.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Ground Forces Day on Thursday, December 12.
Zelenskyy congratulates soldiers
The President extended his congratulations to the Ukrainian military on Ground Forces Day, emphasizing their vital role in safeguarding the nation's defense.
"The main burden of this war lies on the shoulders of the ground troops — our Ukrainian infantry. Our soldiers are defending Ukraine from Russian assaults, under enemy fire, shelling and bombardment, they are steadfastly holding the line in the most difficult areas," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy emphasized that even today, on their holiday, the soldiers are defending Ukraine and continue to confidently destroy Russian invaders in all areas of the front.
"On behalf of the people of Ukraine, I thank all the personnel of the Ground Forces for their selfless fulfillment of military duty, courage, heroism and outstanding contribution to the common cause of the defense of our state," the Head of State said.
The Ukrainian leader also paid tribute to all the fallen heroes, noting that every Ukrainian has a loved one who gave his or her life for the peace and freedom of Ukraine.
"We will always remember all our soldiers who gave their lives in battle for the sake of Ukraine," Zelensky emphasized.
The President wished the soldiers unwavering strength, military courage and new results in the battles against the Russian aggressor.
Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi congratulated Ukrainian soldiers on Ground forces Day. In the address, Syrskyi expressed his gratitude to the infantrymen, artillerymen, tankers, army aviators and all representatives of the Ground Forces, emphasizing their important role in protecting the state.
