During the meeting, the leaders discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. Zelenskyy stressed that we must restore their future and do everything possible to ensure that they, like all children, can live happily.

The Ukrainian leader thanked Italy for its unwavering support for Ukraine, for its clear and principled position on a just and lasting peace, and for the importance of close cooperation with international partners to achieve this goal.

He emphasized that he appreciated Italy's positive view of Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO as a key element of the pan-European security system.

"Ukraine highly appreciates Italy's unwavering position on maintaining and strengthening sanctions against Russia, which has unleashed a war in the center of Europe," the Ukrainian president said.

On January 9, Zelenskyy arrived in Italy for talks with the country's leadership.

On the same day, he met with Italian Prime Minister George Meloni. The parties discussed strategic initiatives to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
