Zelenskyy reveals details of the agreement with Britain — video
On Thursday, January 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer signed an agreement on a "100-year partnership". It provides for cooperation between the countries in various fields.
Zelenskyy said this in his evening video address to Ukrainians.
Agreement between Ukraine and the UK
"The visit of the British Prime Minister and the signing of a historic agreement mark a fundamentally new format of relations," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, relations between Ukraine and the UK are now the closest, and some of the things included in the agreement can be done with other countries, developing our partnerships. In particular, we are talking about more defense and security cooperation.
For this year alone, the UK has provided Ukraine with $6.6 billion in military assistance, of which more than $3 billion will be a binding annual amount until we need it. The agreement also provides for economic, technological and educational cooperation - the development of Ukrainian schools and universities together with British ones.
"There is also a closed, secret part of the agreement. All this really contributes to our sustainability and development opportunities," the President added.
To recap, during a press conference after the meeting with Starmer, Zelenskyy explained why a simple invitation to join NATO is important for Ukraine.
The leaders also met with manufacturers of Ukrainian drones. These include attack drones, reconnaissance UAVs, and FPV drone carrier platforms.
