Zelenskyy commented on Orbán's call to Putin, mentioning Assad
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The topic was, among other things, the war in Ukraine. The Head of Ukraine reacted to such a discussion.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the politicians' conversation via Telegram on Wednesday, December 11.
Zelenskyy's reaction to Orbán's conversation with Putin
President Zelenskyy thanked President Trump and many European leaders with whom Ukraine cooperates to find the right solutions for the sake of "real peace". In turn, he criticized Orbán's idea to discuss the situation in Ukraine with Putin without the knowledge of the state.
"We should not contribute to our own image at the expense of unity — we should take care of common success. It is unity in Europe that always brings success. Talks about the war against Ukraine, which Russia is waging, cannot take place without Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine also added that achieving real peace and guaranteed security requires the determination of America, the unity of Europe, and the willingness of all partners to adhere to the goals and principles of the UN Charter. The President of Ukraine was not without sarcasm.
"We all hope that Viktor Orbán will not at least call Assad in Moscow to listen to his hour-long lectures," Zelenskyy wrote.
Let us recall that, as reported by the media, Hungarian Special Services could illegally spy on European Union officials. This probably happened during their visit to the country.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the United States of America plays a decisive role in the war in Ukraine. He is convinced that the situation should change when the newly elected US President Donald Trump takes office.
