Ukrainian parliament supported the creation of a new ministry
The Committee of the Ukrainian Parliament on Humanitarian and Information Policy unanimously supported the draft law providing for the creation of the Ministry of Demography and Diaspora. Solving the demographic crisis is one of the most important tasks of the state, along with victory in the war, restoration of the country and integration into the EU and NATO.
This was announced by the initiator of the draft law, MP Mykola Knyazhytskyy on Wednesday, October 16.
Creation of a new ministry
Knyazhytskyy emphasized that the new ministry will receive broad powers to form and implement strategic decisions in the field of demography, and will also be able to influence the content of decisions of other executive bodies if they contradict the state demographic policy.
According to the provisions of draft law No. 11424, the activities of the Ministry of Demography and Diaspora will be aimed at encouraging Ukrainians to return to Ukraine and promoting family support programs.
"Solving the demographic problem should be considered as one of the key tasks of the state and society. Along with our victory in the war, the achievement of a fair and stable peace, membership in the EU and NATO, and the reconstruction of the country," the MP said.
In addition, the draft law provides for the establishment of the Demographic Potential Restoration Fund, which will finance initiatives to support the population through a system of grants.
The fund will finance programs aimed at increasing the birth rate, supporting families, as well as helping internally displaced persons and Ukrainians abroad.
It is also known that the mechanisms for financing the programs of the Ministry and the Foundation includes the use of both state funds and international grants, which will ensure greater flexibility and scale of initiatives.
Knyazhytskyy expressed hope for unity during the adoption of this important bill in the Ukrainian Parliament.
Deputy Yevhenia Kravchuk noted that there were two draft laws in the parliament regarding the creation of a separate specialized ministry.
"Here, the main task was to support the President's idea of a separate ministry. We had two draft laws. We supported the one that was registered first (draft law No. 11424. — Ed.). In general, if it is revised, we will involve all alternative opinions, in including the alternative bill," the deputy explained.
Previously, we wrote that the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk signed Law No. 11416-d. It involves an increase in taxes.
It should be reminded, that MP Oleksiy Goncharenko reported that after the air raid, MPs did not return en masse to the meeting of the Ukrainian Parliament. According to him, an important vote was going on at that time.
