The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed mobile phone malfunctions during alarms. This is due to problems with the GPS satellite navigation coordinate system.

This was stated on the General Staff's Telegram channel on Tuesday, November 5.

Smartphone malfunctions during air alarms

Problems with mobile phones during alarms are related to means of replacing GPS satellite navigation coordinates (spoofing). They are used to increase the effectiveness of destroying enemy targets.

It is advisable to disable the automatic time update mode on the phone and take into account that during the announcement of air alarms, the accuracy of satellite navigation systems may be impaired.

"A side effect of this impact is a violation of the precise time system used by mobile phones in the automatic time update mode. Considering the above, it is advisable to disable the automatic time update mode on the phone and take into account that during the announcement of air alerts, the accuracy of satellite navigation systems may be impaired," experts in electronic warfare at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explained.
