The Embraer 190 of the Azerbaijan Airlines airline, which was flying from Baku to Grozny, was shot down by a Russian air defense system. The Russian Federation should have closed the airspace, but did not do so.

This was stated by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko via Telegram on Wednesday, December 25.

Russia shot down a passenger plane

According to Kovalenko, in the morning the Embraer 190 of the Azerbaijani airline was shot down by a Russian anti-aircraft missile system.

"Russia should have closed the airspace over Grozny, but did not do this. The plane was damaged by the Russians, and it was sent to Kazakhstan, instead of making an emergency landing in Grozny and saving people's lives," the message says.
