The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), together with the Special Operations Forces (SOF), successfully attacked one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The Ryazan thermal power also came under attack.

This was reported to Novyny.LIVE by SSU sources on Friday, January 24.

Attack on refineriy and thermal power plant

According to sources, Ukrainian drones attacked the facilities of the Ryazan Oil Refining Company last night. At least three tank caught fire. The fire also engulfed the workshop housing the hydrotreating unit for diesel fuel and jet fuel. Local residents reported more than 50 explosions near the refinery.

"This refinery is one of the largest in Russia with a refining capacity of 17 million tons of oil per year," the statement said.

In addition, the drones struck the Ryazan oil pumping station and the Ryazan thermal power plant.

Sources in the SSU say that these actions are part of "drone sanctions" against the Russian military-industrial complex and the oil sector.

"Work will continue on the degradation of the enemy's military capabilities," the security source added.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian military is increasingly attacking Russian military-industrial complex facilities. In response, the Kremlin is strengthening the protection of strategic facilities in the regions bordering Ukraine.

Earlier, the Defense Forces struck an oil depot in the Voronezh region of Russia and an aviation plant in the Smolensk region.
