Scholz explained why he is ready to start a conversation with Putin
Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz once again emphasized that he is ready to hold negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on the topic of a fair peace in Ukraine. He also reminded that Ukraine agreed to Russia's participation in the second Peace Summit.
Scholz said this in the Bundestag on Wednesday, October 16, according to the Rheinische Post.
Scholz is ready to talk to Putin
Commenting on the Russian-Ukrainian war, Scholz mentioned Ukraine's agreement to Russia's participation in the next Peace Summit.
"That's why it's also right that when we are asked whether we will talk to the Russian president, we answer: "Yes, we will,"" Scholz said.
He added that at the same time, he adheres to clear principles — never to make decisions without taking into account the position of Ukraine and without consulting the closest partners.
Scholz also noted that countless Russian soldiers are "victims of the imperialist madness of the Russian president" every day.
"They are also victims of his policies aimed at expanding his country. This is something that should not happen again in Europe," Scholz added.
Previously, we reported that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz. This was his third meeting with the German leader during the autumn. Perhaps, it is one of the key ones.
It should be recalled that at the beginning of October, Germany transferred additional IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine. This aid was co-financed by Norway at the German initiative.
