Russian leader Vladimir Putin refused to go to the G20 summit in Brazil due to the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant. The Russian delegation will be headed by Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov.

Le Monde reported this on Tuesday, November 12.

Putin refused to go to the G20 summit in Brazil

Lavrov will replace the Russian dictator as head of the Russian delegation at the G20 summit, which is scheduled to take place on November 18-19 in Rio de Janeiro.

This is due to the fact that the Brazilian authorities have not provided clear guarantees whether they will take Putin into custody on the basis of the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.

The Russian diplomatic service said in a statement that Putin's trip was canceled "so as not to disrupt the work of the G20 summit".

The Russian leader said in October that he would not travel to Brazil while he was under arrest.

It should be recalled that in October, Ukraine appealed to Brazil to execute the International Criminal Court's warrant and arrest Putin if he attends the G20 summit.

Previously, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin seeks to reset Russian-American relations on his own terms during Donald Trump's presidency. In particular, he wants to remove Western sanctions.
