Lithuania to hand over camouflage nets found in parcels for Russia to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
In Lithuania, customs officials discovered and seized camouflage nets for artillery that were en route by train from Kaliningrad to Moscow. They will now be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the Lithuanian customs on their Facebook page on Monday, September 30.
What is known
The Ministry noted that on September 27, employees of the Kaunas Territorial Customs and the Customs Criminal Service inspected a passenger train traveling from Kaliningrad to Moscow. During the inspection, staff at the "Kibartai" railway post found seven packages containing 22 camouflage nets in the mail car.
The packages were heading to the Belgorod region of Russia, as the recipients' addresses were specified in that region.
Two days later, on September 29, during the inspection of a transit train from Kaliningrad to Moscow at the same "Kibartai" railway post, two more camouflage nets were found.
Lithuanian customs officials believe that they may be intended for Russian troops fighting against Ukraine.
An investigation has now been initiated regarding the seizure. If it is confirmed that the use of camouflage nets violates the regulations for transporting military equipment and ammunition, the cargo will be classified as a violation of international sanctions.
The confiscated goods will be handed over to Ukraine as aid by the Lithuanian customs.
Previously, at the beginning of September, it became known that Lithuania would finance the purchase of "Palyanytsia" missile drones for Ukraine.
We also previously reported that in Lithuania, several sites displayed Russian symbols used to mark military equipment.
