China wants to build the world's largest hydropower dam
China plans to build a hydropower dam on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo river in Tibet. The corresponding decision was approved by the country's government.
Bloomberg wrote about this on Friday, December 27.
Hydropower dam in China
It is expected that the new Chinese hydropower dam will become the largest in the world and will cost 1 trillion yuan, which is equal to 137 billion dollars. The dam will be able to generate three times more electricity than the Three Gorges.
The article states that the dam could cause tension between China and India, since the river on which it will be built flows through the disputed territory of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to David Fishman, a representative of the energy consulting company Lantau Group in Shanghai, the project will take at least 10 years to implement.
"This is a huge engineering feat. The river itself has great hydropower resources. Everyone downstream will be concerned about what will happen if the water flow decreases. I know India is very concerned about this," he said.
At the same time, China has studied the river and promised to take measures to ensure safety and environmental protection.
As a reminder, the Chinese robotics startup MagicLab introduced a fleet of collaborative humanoids for vocational training. The robots are engaged in product inspection, material handling, part selection and placement, scanning and warehousing.
And the Chinese company Chery introduced the iCar V23 compact electric SUV, which looks very similar to the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.
