Despite the sanctions, Russia continues to buy high-tech components from Western companies through Chinese intermediaries.

This was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak on Telegram on Monday, October 7.

Where does Russia buy technologies for electronic warfare?

According to Yermak, high-tech components from Western companies are being used by Russia to develop and adapt electronic intelligence and warfare (EI/EW) equipment.

"In 2023, Russia purchased spectrum analyzers and signal generators worth $38 million from American, German and Swiss companies through Chinese intermediaries," the statement said.

The head of the presidential administration added that in 2024, this amount reached $12 million, indicating that deliveries continued despite the sanctions.

"This should not be the case. Restrictions must work, you cannot make money with the lives of Ukrainians," Yermak stressed.

Earlier, the US imposed sanctions on a network involved in illegal payment channels between Russia and North Korea. With the help of this network, Russia can continue to wage war in Ukraine.

As a reminder, Turkey has stated that the lifting of sanctions imposed by Western countries against Russia could be one of the main aspects of possible negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
