Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico says he will block Ukraine's accession to NATO as long as he is in power. He believes that if Kyiv is given the "green light" to join the alliance, it will lead to World War III.

This was reported by Pravda.

Fico's statements on Ukraine's membership in NATO

Fico said he supports Ukraine's aspirations to become an EU member, although he does not believe this will happen in the near future. At the same time, he is categorically opposed to Ukraine becoming a member of NATO.

"As long as I am the Prime Minister of Slovakia, I will lead the deputies, whom I keep under political control as the leader of the party, so that they will never agree to Ukraine's membership in NATO," he said.

Robert Fico is convinced that Ukraine's accession to NATO will form the basis for the outbreak of World War III.

In addition, the Slovak Prime Minister repeated his earlier statement that the West wants a war in Ukraine because it wants to "bring the Russians to their knees".

It is also known that he has already planned a trip to Moscow for the 80th anniversary of the surrender of the Third Reich.

As a reminder, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg recently said that Ukraine could become a NATO member without any of its occupied territories.

These rumors were fueled by the Financial Times, which stated that Western diplomats and a growing number of Ukrainian officials are discussing a possible compromise under which Kyiv would gain a seat in NATO if it gave up the territories occupied by Russia. The president's office reacted sharply to the information, saying there were no such conditions.
