Zelenskyy wants to strengthen air defense after last shelling
A rescue operation is still underway in Zaporizhzhia after a missile strike. The Russians hit the city with ballistic missiles. There are dead and injured people. Ukraine needs to strengthen air defense to prevent such attacks.
This was stated by the President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during an evening speech on Tuesday, December 10.
Ukraine needs more air defense systems
As the Head of State noted, he has already discussed with the Chief of Staff what is needed to secure Ukrainian cities. Zelenskyy also stated that negotiations with partners about additional air defense systems are currently underway.
"Currently, we do not have enough systems to protect our country from Russian missiles. But partners have these systems. We repeat again and again that air defense should save lives, not gather dust at storage bases. We are now preparing a schedule of meetings and negotiations for this month to do as much as possible," the President said.
Zelenskyy also added that he had a conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk today. He emphasized that Ukraine is grateful to Poland for all the provided support.
"We must continue to work together, so that both of our states become stronger. During the conversation, we planned our joint work in these weeks and also next year, when Poland's presidency of the European Union begins," Zelenskyy said.
It should be reminded that the Russian military attacked Ukraine with almost 500 guided aerial bombs, more than 400 drones and almost 20 missiles only last week.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that strengthening of air defense is extremely necessary for Ukraine. This is proven by every strike on the country's settlements.
