The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back 50 thousand personnel of the Russian army in the Kursk region. Ukraine needs long-range weapons from partners to reduce Russia’s combat power.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, November 11.

The most important information from the President’s address

Zelenskyy informed about the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, who told about the situation on the front line.

According to the Head of State, attention is focused specifically on the Kursk direction, where the Armed Forces are holding back about 50 thousand Russian soldiers.

"There, our guys are holding back a fairly large group of Russian troops — 50 thousand personnel of the occupying army, who, thanks to the Kursk operation, cannot be sent to other directions of Russia’s strikes on our territory. We greatly appreciate the bravery of all our soldiers, of every unit involved in these battles," Zelenskyy said.

He also noted the fighters who strike at enemy bases, logistics, and the rear. As the President noted, attacks on Russian arsenals have reduced the amount of artillery that the Russian Federation uses at the front line.

"That is why we need long-range solutions from partners — from the USA, from the UK, from Germany. This is something that is vitally necessary. The further our missiles and our drones can hit, the less real combat power Russia will have," the Head of State emphasized.

According to him, by the end of the year, European partners should manage to fully implement the initiative to supply Ukraine with a million artillery shells.

"I spoke with the Estonian Minister of Defense. Recently, the building where the Estonian ambassador's residence is located was damaged in Kyiv. This is one of the many pieces of evidence that we need to significantly strengthen not only protection against Russian terror, but also pressure on Russia in order to limit its military production," Zelenskyy noted.

The President emphasized that in the next EU sanctions package, it is important to hit Russia's schemes for circumventing sanctions.

"All those who continue such trade with the Russian Federation must clearly understand the consequences. Peace through force is, in particular, thanks to the force of sanctions," the President of Ukraine said.

It should be recalled that on November 11, Zelenskyy held a meeting of the State Defense Committee. A decision was made to strengthen the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions and improve the equipment of mobile fire groups.

Previously, we wrote about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's reaction to the attack on a high-rise building in Kryvyi Rih. The President stated that Ukraine needs increased military assistance to protect against Russian terror.
