Syria declares its desire for strategic partnership with Ukraine

Syria plans to establish a strategic partnership with Ukraine. The countries will cooperate at the political, economic and social levels.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to the words of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani on Monday, December 30.

Cooperation between Ukraine and Syria

The Syrian Foreign Minister met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha. Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani noted that Syria looks forward to cooperation with Ukraine.

"There will be a strategic partnership between us and Ukraine at the political, economic and social levels, as well as a scientific partnership," the newly appointed Syrian Foreign Minister said.

He also added that the Syrian people and Ukrainians have the same experience and have lived through the same suffering. This refers to the civil war that has been going on in Syria since 2011.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha for his visit to Syria. The Head of State emphasized that it is important to restore relations between the two countries.
