Russia has appointed an acting governor of the partially uncontrolled Kursk region. It was State Duma deputy Alexander Hinstein.

This was reported by the Russian media.

Appointment as Acting Governor of Kursk region

It is known that Hinstein also previously served as an advisor to the director of the Rosgvardia. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the region is need of "crisis management".

According to him, the acting head of the region should restore the territories where the Ukrainian army's offensive is currently underway and organize "work to help local residents".

After this appointment, well-known Russian journalist Sergei Podsytnik offered to raise money for weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces so that the Defense Forces could strike at Hinstein.

"Friends, I suggest we chip in to ensure Hinshtein's behind meets the same fate as Rogozin's. I'm generally against donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but for a cause like this..." his post in X reads.

At the VTB Investment Forum, Putin said that the country's economy continues to grow, predicting a 4% increase in GDP by the end of 2024. However, the information he announced is very far from reality.

Putin also ordered his troops to expel Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region by January 20. Currently, the defenders are repelling all enemy attacks in this area.
