Russian hackers were convicted for cyberattacks on state authorities of Ukraine

The court convicted in absentia two members of the FSB hacker group called "Armageddon". They carried out more than five thousand cyberattacks on the state authorities of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine via Telegram on Tuesday, October 8.

FSB hackers received prison sentences in absentia

According to the case file, the attackers carried out more than five thousand cyberattacks on state bodies and objects of critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

"The largest number of them fell on the electronic systems of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development of our country," the message stated.

Their goal was to gain access to the system of electronic document circulation and servers with secret data of Ukrainian government structures.

It is reported that the organizers of the hacking activity are two former employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in Crimea, who betrayed their oath in 2014.

"Then they voluntarily joined the "branch" of the FSB on the temporarily occupied peninsula," the SSU reported.

The court sentenced both traitors to 15 years of imprisonment. The trial took place in the absence of the accused — in absentia.

It should be reminded that Ukrainian hackers carried out a large-scale cyber attack on the Russian state television and radio broadcasting company, shutting down the TV channels of main propaganda.

Previously, we wrote that cyber specialists of the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate attacked the resources of Russian suppliers. Other resources serving the occupiers were also attacked.
