The European Parliament has approved the new European Commission team. It was confirmed by a record minimum number of deputies — 370 people.

This was reported on X by the press service of the European Parliament on Wednesday, November 27.

New European Commission team

The results of the European Commission elections are as follows:

  • for — 370 deputies;
  • against — 282 deputies;
  • abstentions — 36 deputies.

This is the lowest support in the history of the European Union. Ursula von der Leyen's new team consists of 27 European Commissioners and will begin its duties on December 1.

The new commission will aim to:

  • removing barriers to business between the 27 member states;
  • reducing bureaucracy;
  • increase defense spending;
  • support for the Western Balkans;
  • support Ukraine on its way to the EU.

As we wrote earlier, former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that Ukraine could join the EU in the format of "partial membership".

The European Commission will also file a lawsuit in the European Court of Justice against Hungary over the country's "sovereignty protection" law, which violates EU law.
