Japan will transfer another $3 billion

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Shigeru Ishiba on his election as Prime Minister of Japan and expressed gratitude to the Japanese people for the large-scale humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine. The total amount of support is $12 billion, which allows saving thousands of lives.

What is known about Zelenskyy’s conversation with Shigeru Ishiba

During the conversation, the President informed the Japanese leader about the massive missile strikes that Russia carried out on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Christmas Eve. The President also noted the importance of Japan’s support in the pursuit of a fair and long-lasting peace.

The Head of State thanked the Japanese government for the decision to transfer another $3 billion to Ukraine, received at the expense of frozen Russian assets. In addition, Japan will provide additional assistance for the restoration of energy infrastructure and the construction of shelters.

The parties agreed to continue the dialogue and meet to discuss further cooperation.

As a reminder, the day before, Zelenskyy had a conversation with his counterpart from Angola, João Lourenço. The Ukrainian leader thanked the latter for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of African unity and solidarity in restoring peace.

Previously, Zelenskyy also met with the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns. He visited Ukraine as the head of intelligence.
