Rio, an Azov fighter, spoke about this in an interview with Ramina Eskhakzai.

How the evacuation from Mariupol took place

According to the military, another evacuation from Mariupol took place on March 31, 2022. It was during this evacuation that Rio and other defenders were taken out of the city.

"I had a guy from intelligence with me, he helped me get there, because I couldn't do it alone. We were evacuated from the port. We had to go through Azovstal, then by river, sea, and bus," the soldier says.

The fellow soldier who helped Rio get to the evacuation site was a serviceman with the call sign "Chrome". They flew from Mariupol in different helicopters.

"Our helicopter was hit by some kind of hand-held ATGM. We all heard it and thought we were going to crash, but the pilot managed to reach Dnipro city," says Rio.

According to the soldier, he learned of his comrade's death in the hospital. The helicopter in which Chrome was flying was shot down.

As a reminder, a fighter with the Azov regiment, call sign Frost, told us about his impressions of his vacation in civilian life. He noted that he expected completely different emotions.

In the capital, a mural has appeared on Chervona Kalynya Avenue in honor of Azov fighter Maksym Bordus. The fallen hero was a soldier and a fan of Dynamo Kyiv.
